Emmaus Suffolk supports vulnerably housed individuals through a work framework in their social enterprises to help build self esteem.
The organisation is turning all it’s efforts to supporting people’s mental health to stay stimulated and safe indoors by providing Boredom packs every 2 weeks. This offer has expanded to include all those, supported by 8 other service providers in local hostels, and the newly housed street homeless in Ipswich and Felixstowe.
The recent funding is helping to deliver 130 Boredom packs every month, with a request for a further 120. These Boredom packs contain 3 books, 3cd’s and 3 DVD’s and a puzzle made up from donations from the social enterprises. The funding enables the Charity to continue to buy new items such as puzzle books, colouring books and pens and small gift items for each bag, as well as covering the distribution costs They are delivered to the door in a clear plastic bag and collected/swapped two weeks later.
Receiving funding from the Suffolk Community Covid-19 funding has enable the charity to continue to support the most vulnerable in Ipswich and Felixstowe. We as an organisation receive no statutory funding and usually generates over 60% of its income through its own trading, and with these shops not able to be open, this income has now stopped. We are so grateful for this funding, as it is both a lifeline to the individuals we support but it also helps keeps the doors of Emmaus open (virtually speaking) in these challenging times.
